 What moves us and why?

There is deep inspiration and rigor in a practice of improvisation that posits vulnerability at its heart. Developing the skills to care for, engage, respect and respond to that state of vulnerability gives life and depth to improvisation, making it powerful and transformative. The workshop will include practical explorations of movement and attention.

With an aim to develop and tune kinesthetic and perceptual awareness as a means of expanding experience and the grasp of what is available to us when we move. The classes will be about listening in the body and applying that listening to the activity of moving.

Through the *Smiling Ball, we can find ourselves and our movements and then be aware of ourselves enough to express them by improvising.

MA is a very meaningful Japanese word for distance / space / time/ vacancy between things. It must be a useful and an interesting item to share when we are in the dance improvisation as a group as well as in a duo.

MO Dancing Workshop - "Awareness and Construction" 戴劍 11/10,11 14:00~17:00

In all classes, my goal is for students to become aware of their own body language, and to researching how to become more specific with formulating movement ideas. We will use a variety of ways to open sensory abilities through relaxed observation, listening and deep re-understanding of the body. We will work on reducing mind-control habits to let the body awake to his intrinsic wisdom. Then, we will focus on specific forms and methods to develop further improvisation skills. Last, we will be able to resume our learnings and progress through the workshop to try to elaborate a structure for improvisation and bring it into a playful dance work.
